SITUATION OVERVIEW
1. Overview of the situation – Displacement and influx
According to UNHCR (October 28), an estimated 460,000 people have crossed the border (70% – Syrians, 30% – Lebanese) from Lebanon to Syria. There are reports that up to 800,000 people have actually moved to Syria.
UNHCR Qamishli Flash Update N11 reports that approximately 54,000 people have crossed the NES, including more than 34,000 to Raqqa, 14,000 – Deir-ez-Zoir and 7,200 – Hassakeh.
2. Situation Overview – AWD/Suspected Cholera Alert in Al Hol Camp {based on WHO Situation Report N2}
On October 11, WHO was notified that AWD/suspected cases of cholera had been detected in Al Hol camp. The cases were identified by camp health facilities that are part of the WHO-supported EWARS. A WHO team visited the camp to assess the situation and provide technical support for alert verification and initial response actions.
As of October 26, 2024, 55 cases of AWD/suspected cholera have been reported in Al-Hasakeh Governorate, of which 39 were positive when tested with cholera RDTs, while 9 were positive according to the confirmatory laboratory culture and serology conducted by the Ministry of Health. (MOH) Central Public Health Laboratory (CPHL) in Damascus (8 in Al-Hol and 1 in Al-Hasakeh). Of the 55 cases, 45 are from Al Hol camp, while 10 are from outside the camp (4 in Al Hol city and 6 in Al Hasakeh city).
