Thomas Tuchel has made his first big decision before replacing Lee Carsley as England’s next manager.
The 51-year-old German will officially take charge of the Three Lions from January 1 after agreeing an 18-month contract with the FA.
He recently said he wanted to “make our dream come true” at the 2026 World Cup in Canada, Mexico and the United States, but before joining the squad he had ‘no intention’ of giving advice to Lee Carsley or the FA. on matters concerning the team.
More specifically, Tuchel will not speak to interim manager Lee Carsley about his squad ahead of his final Nations League games against Greece and Ireland, according to a report from The Telegraph.
In fact, he has no plans to be present when England discover their opponents for World Cup qualifying in the draw in Zurich on December 13.
Last month, Tuchel revealed that taking a “hugely talented” side to success motivated him to take on the role of head coach.
When asked what he thought of the current crop of talent in England, he said: “The potential is obviously huge. But what is even more important to me is that the character of the players is unique.”
Tuchel added: “It was great for me to see the character, determination, perseverance and hunger it takes to perform at this level. It makes me excited to have the opportunity to work with such a talented group.”
He would later claim that England have “everything” to win titles.
