Apple releases iOS 18.2 update earlier than expected as company desperately wants Apple Intelligence to make a difference on iPhone

Apple released iOS 18.1 with Apple Intelligence last week for all compatible iPhone models, but the update still feels lacking in features. Even though Apple has added the long-awaited AI features to the mix, the platform still feels a bit empty, and to address this situation the company could work on releasing the iOS 18.2 update a little earlier than expected.

Analysts claim Apple will release iOS 18.2 in the first week of December as the company desperately wants Apple Intelligence features to make a difference

iOS 18.2 will be a significant update considering the number of features it will add to the iPhone 15 Pro models and the latest iPhone 16 range. In his last Power On NewsletterBloomberg’s Mark Gurman claims that Apple plans to release the iOS 18.2 update for the iPhone with major Apple Intelligence upgrades in the first week of December. The time frame for the release is listed online according to Apple’s own schedule, as it has already confirmed that the update will arrive sometime in December.

While the company didn’t mention an exact time frame for the release, we now know when users can expect the update. As mentioned, the iOS 18.2 release will come with a handful of new Apple Intelligence features and extensions to existing features. Some of the features include Genmoji for generating custom emojis, Image Playground for generating custom images, and Image Wand for turning scribbles into an image in the Notes app.

While these new additions are great, we’re most excited about the company’s ChatGPT integration with Siri, which has been in the works for a while and is also available to developers for testing purposes. While Siri would continue to exist on the iPhone and other Apple products, ChatGPT integration would allow the system to handle complex queries.

The iOS 18.2 update also brings a handful of additional features, including localized English support in Britain, South Africa, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand for Apple Intelligence. In addition to the new AI features, iOS 18.2 also adds a new Default Apps section in the Settings app and Apple News+ features. We’ll let you know when the update is available, so make sure to stay tuned.
